The short version
- Miqa does not collect your data. We never see it.
- The app cannot use the internet. Android is told to block it.
- There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no trackers.
- What you type into the app stays on your phone.
- Uninstall the app and it is all gone.
1. Who we are
Miqa is an Android app for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. It is made and published by Ekdutn Inc., a company in Ontario, Canada. This policy covers the Miqa app and the website miqa.app.
2. The app has no internet access
Miqa asks Android to remove the internet permission and the network state permission. So the app cannot send anything to us or to anyone else. It works the same in airplane mode. We run no server for the app, so we have no way to receive your data.
3. What the app keeps on your phone
The app keeps the things below in its own private storage on your phone. None of it is sent anywhere. Miqa also turns off Android backup and device transfer for this data, so it does not go to Google Drive or to a new phone.
- My card: hotel name, gate, room, floor, your group leader's name and phone number, photos of your hotel card and hotel entrance, and the hotel's position if you choose to save it.
- My trip: travel agency name, phone and WhatsApp number, booking reference, flight details, and a photo of your voucher.
- Family: names, relationship, blood type, allergies, health conditions, medicines, passport numbers, insurance policy, emergency contact, home address, and a card photo.
- Your settings: your language, your chosen country or consulate, and how far you are in your tawaf and sa'i count.
- An approximate position, saved after you allow it on the first launch, so that prayer times and the Qibla can work later without asking again. You can say no, and then the app simply shows no prayer times or Qibla.
This information is for you. It is shown to another person only when you hold up your screen to them.
4. Permissions and why
- Approximate location: asked once, on the first launch, after a short explanation inside the app. You can decline. It is used only for prayer times and the Qibla, which are worked out on your phone.
- Precise location: used only while the app is open on your screen, for "Where am I", "Walk me back", and to save your hotel's position on "My card". The app does not read your location in the background. Apart from the hotel position you choose to save, the app does not keep it.
- Notifications and foreground service: while you are counting tawaf or sa'i, the app shows a notification so you can count with the volume buttons or a lock screen button while the phone is in your pocket. It stops when you leave the counting step.
- Vibration: a short buzz when a circuit is counted.
- Camera and photos: the app does not hold the camera permission. When you add a photo or scan a QR code, it opens your phone's own camera or photo picker. A card photo is made smaller and copied into the app's private storage. A photo taken to scan a QR code is not kept by the app. Text on a card and QR codes are read on your phone, by reading tools that are inside the app. Nothing is sent.
- Compass: the phone's compass sensor shows the Qibla direction. It needs no permission.
- Sound: the app plays recordings that are built into it.
5. What we never collect
We never collect your name, email, phone number, location, photos, health information, passport details, device identifiers, advertising ID, crash reports or usage statistics. There are no accounts. There are no ads. There are no analytics. There is no tracking. We do not sell data. We cannot, because we do not have it.
6. Sharing
We share nothing, because we collect nothing. No other company's code inside the app sends data anywhere. The only sharing is what you do yourself, for example showing your screen to a person.
7. Other apps you open
Some buttons hand you over to another app on your phone: the phone dialer for calls, a maps app for walking directions (this passes the place coordinates to the maps app), and WhatsApp for a message to your agency number. When you tap one, Android opens that app and gives it the number or place. From then on, that app's own privacy policy applies, not ours. Miqa itself sends nothing.
8. Children
Miqa is not made for children and does not collect information from anyone, including children. A parent can type a child's details into Family. They stay on that phone only.
9. Deleting your data
All your data is on your phone, so you control it. To delete everything, uninstall Miqa, or open Android Settings, then Apps, then Miqa, then Storage, and choose Clear data. You can also change what you entered inside the app. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.
10. The website miqa.app
The website is a simple page in six languages. It has no cookies, no scripts, no forms, no analytics and no ads. Its fonts and pictures come from the same site, not from other companies. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, its servers see your IP address and browser details when you open a page, and may keep normal technical logs for security and to run the service. We do not use them to identify you. The footer links to ekdutn.com, which is a different site with its own policy. If you email hello@miqa.app, we receive your email address and message, and we use them only to reply.
11. Google Play
If you install Miqa from Google Play, Google may give us basic anonymous figures such as installs and crashes through Play Console. That is Google's service, not part of the app, and it is covered by Google's own policy.
12. Changes
If we change this policy, we will put the new version on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever needs the internet or starts to collect anything, we will change this policy first.
